6 reasons Systeme.io is perfect for email marketing for beginners and experienced users

Systeme.io Review Series: Email Autoresponder

Summary

Email marketing has the highest return on investment of any type of marketing discipline. For every dollar you spend, you can make $42 back.

However, to market using email effectively you need an email autoresponder tool and many of them are very complicated or expensive as your email list grows in size and emails are sent.

Systeme.io has an email autoresponder as part of its features and it’s easy enough for beginners to get started with and comes with unlimited emails on every plan no matter the size of your list making it great for more experienced marketers.

Systeme is a great choice for email marketing, but if you need granular control and list segmentation Systeme may not be the right fit for you.

Emails so simple that anyone can use them

Systeme has two ways of using emails

  1. Newsletters

  2. Campaigns

email options in Systeme dashboard

You either send a single email, broadcast as it’s known on other platforms, or you send a sequence of emails which is a campaign.

Newsletters can be sent to a specific tag or group of tags and you can get more specific by choosing to send to contacts who have been tagged within a certain number of days.

Campaigns are a sequence of emails and you can set a delay time between each email to drip the content to the list.

Systeme’s email autoresponder also comes with the expected features;

  • Personalisation with tags like {first_name}

  • Classic editor for text-based editing

  • Visual editor to make fancy-looking newsletters with the drag-and-drop builder

The great thing about simplicity is the platform stays out of your way so you can write your emails efficiently and set up the automation rules for them to be sent. Beginner or experienced, you’ll find the feature intuitive to use.

Tags to separate and segment lists

The only way to segment your lists is by using tags.

For most use cases this is all you need and great because again it’s simple - you can just get to writing and connecting.

If you have a larger email list, where segmentation is crucial for its operation, you may find yourself in a tag nightmare and working hard to semantically group users based on their behaviours and your interactions.

In those situations, Systeme may not be the best fit.

However, it doesn’t mean you can’t use Systeme for some of your segmented groups that you maybe send a higher volume of emails to.

Unlimited emails on all plans

Systeme pricing

Unlimited emails no matter the size of your email list is a huge bonus for the more experienced email marketers.

The price plans determine the list size

  • 5k subscribers for $27 per month

  • 10k subscribers for $47 per month

  • Unlimited everything for $97 per month

Statistics to track your emails

Systeme doesn’t have the most sophisticated tracking analytics, but I’d argue it’s got what most people would find useful and certainly enough for small to medium-sized businesses.

Systeme tracks;

  • Number of emails sent.

  • Open rates.

  • Bounce rates.

  • Spam reports.

  • Links clicked in the email.

This is enough to make sure what you write is relevant and is converting to sales or leads.

If you need more granular control, I’d suggest trying something more sophisticated.

Automation and workflows to streamline your emails

Systeme comes with automation rules and workflows to make sure your emails are sent when they should be and to the right people.

Automation rules are simple triggers and actions, so if someone subscribes to an opt-in form they will automatically be placed into a campaign or tagged.

Workflows are more complex rules with if statements and multiple triggers or requirements to set off an action. Many actions can be chained and delays can be set too.

Systeme example workflow

More experienced email marketers can make a workflow for their exact needs and beginners can take advantage of automatic list cleaning.

However, Systeme currently doesn’t come with any preset workflows like list sanitation or abandon cart flows so you have to be able to set these up yourself which can be tricky for beginners.

Collect emails with pop-ups on other websites

This feature may be more useful to experienced users and those familiar with other platforms like WordPress.

You can make an inline pop-up funnel and paste the HTML code into a WordPress site, or equivalent like Wix etc, and collect emails from an existing site into Systeme’s autoresponder.

This makes it a lot easier to integrate with your current tech stack and you won’t lose your precious ranking on an existing site.

Round Up

Systeme is a great choice for beginners breaking into the most profitable form of marketing - email marketing.

It’s also useful for more experienced marketers with basic use cases or limited segmentation requirements.

It’s hard to beat Systeme on price, and the features are being updated frequently. As a tool, it’s worth adding to your belt and diversifying where your lists live in the event of systems going down.
